Why Do Scousers Like West Ham So Much?

When ever I chat to one about football they all go on what a great club we are and how much they like us, thats both Everton and Liverpool. Have we got any connections there I'm sure we haven't.

Actually it was Souness who said he liked playing us as it was a guaranteed four points fucking can't stand the scotch c*** or his so called irish mate Lawrenson.

First scouser I ever met was 13 on a school football tour in Guernsey. There was a Scouse school football team staying in the same hotel. I remember the island giving the cat & eye tails out as punishment for a few local kids had drowned some kittens. A few of us walked to the local park and a mate introduced me to said Scouse kid of same age 13, he whipped out a flick knife and started carving his name in the tree, my mate said to come back to his room to show me his stash and opened the lid of a large trunk in his room which was full expensive tolen goods, must have been a couple of grands worth no exaggeration. The kid spoke two to the dozen with a strong scouse accent and was a Liverpool fan. I realised then that they are all thieving bastards, but likeable sort of rogues.

I live up on Merseyside. We're pretty big up here considering the geographical distance. Sure I read somewhere (twitter data maybe?) that we're the most supported premier league club on merseyside other than Liverpool and Everton.
School I work at in Chester has 3 teachers that are Hammers. Pretty decent number out of a staff of 80 teachers.
Not bothered by Everton, but I do find Liverpool pretty loathsome. Supporters are like a northern remix of spurs fans.

Have to say that the final in 2006 probably boosted our appeal to the red scouse.
The atmosphere before, during and after the game was absolutely the way it should be at a football match. Two sets of fans singing their hearts out but in a spirit of competition not menace and violence..
The rumour that they they sang 'Bubbles' with us after the final whistle is also true - I witnessed it myself.

I've seen trouble up there with these lot, not much, tbf, but if we'd have beat them at Cardiff, you would have seen a different side to them. Terrible losers.

Liverpool away one year, after the game we went to the pub next to Goodison Park for loads of beers.
After a while a couple of scousers came in swinging a dead cat by it's tail over their heads, before just lobbing it back out into the street.
Now although the song comes to mind, I though that was scum being an animal lover and as that cat was probably a childs beloved pet.

Met some sympathetic Everton fans after Liverpool (and, in particular, Paul Walsh) cheated us out of the game there in 1986.
But, on another occasion, Everton tried to storm a local petrol station after a match, presumably to make Molotovs to chunk at us. Although they could have just been on the rob.
So, mixed experiences of Everton. fans

One of the downsides of being an expat is that you meet a lot of Northerners. I know and have known plenty of Scousers, some of them proper fans too, and to a man I've never known any of them to give a flying fuck about West Ham either way.

I've never known any scousers who like us.
An everton fan I knew was attacked as a kid by west ham fans at villa outside and inside the ground, and was caught by a brick in the face. Think he was about 13 or something.
Another everton fan I knew was a bit handy and hated us, and used to try fight west ham all the time.
I've only ever known a few PROPER scouser liverpool fans and they're fucking delusional about liverpool and couldn't give a fuck about west ham.
The rest are southern plastic scousers who liked them because john barnes or ian rush when they won a lot.

Always it could be swt.
I used to admire the great Liverpool side of the late 70s early 80s. Had a bit of everything, could beat you playing football, but also beat you if you tried to rough them up. Probably one on the greatest teams ever with the late 80s Milan etc.
